Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United American. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the business to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after, she exited from the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's initial Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment that covered 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an exemplary household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover from one job to another throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Sometimes, her family depended on free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran claims her father was a drunken man who was rude to her mother and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
